The textile centre at Nadukani, Kannur district, promoted by the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) has started allotment of land to entrepreneurs in textile and garment manufacturing for setting up units. Spread over an area of 124 acres, out of 94.80 acres will be allotted for setting up of textile units, the park has been provided with the necessary infrastructure such as roads, power and water supply.

A Central Government-sponsored project, KINFRA Textile Centre will offer the entrepreneurs incentives as well as training and management support both in textile and garment sector. The centre also features conference and an exhibition centre along with green belt

KINFRA International Park at Thiruvananthapuram already houses many units of well known garment exporters

The whole centre has been divided into six pockets and one of them will be the proposed wet processing area, dyeing and winding plant, water harvesting pond and a hazardous waste treatment plant. There is also a common effluent treatment plant (CETP) which would be for all the units in the park and the services will come with nominal fee. In addition, the centre also houses a unit for wet-processing of yarn and a standard design factory for final processing of fabric. All these infrastructure facilities are included in the cost of Rs 9.38 lakh per acre.

S. Ramnath, Managing Director, KINFRA while talking about the facilities at the park says, “The park also has a crèche where working parents can leave their children in safe hands and focus on their work. Besides this, there will be a dispensary with ambulance facility as well.”

The park comes closely on the heals of the success of the International Apparel Park at Thiruvananthapuram also promoted by KINFRA where leading garment manufacturers like Bombay Rayon Fashions, Texport Industries along with Marian Apparels, Pooja Garments, Devindan Apparels, Anathapuri Apparels, Modern Laundries to mention a few SME’s have their garmenting units.
