OUR e-PANEL MEMBERS


Dr. Michael T. Fralix with over 25 years of experience in apparel manufacturing, operations and corporate management, has provided guidance to hundreds of sewn product companies. At present, he is working as President and COO, [TC]².
In addition to speaking on a variety of topics, Dr. Fralix and his staff deliver an extensive array of seminars, both at [TC]² and on-site, and provide bilingual consulting services to individual companies. These services span topics such as product development, production scheduling, industrial engineering, ergonomics, needs assessments, simulation, short-cycle manufacturing systems, and team development and training.

He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Applied Mathematics and Philosophy from North Carolina State University; is an MBA from Duke University and holds a Ph.D. in Technology Management from North Carolina State University.

Dr. Alistair Knox, presently working as Senior Lecturer and Researcher (Fashion & Textile Management) (since 1995) as also as Manager, Size-Shape-Fit research unit at Nottingham Trent University, UK, (since 2001) did his MS from Michigan University and Ph.D. from Manchester University. His teaching and research have bias towards fashion management and technology, including size/shape 3D body scanning and made-to-measure technologies, CAD-CAM and supply chain management. He has also worked as external examiner in Manchester Metropolitan University, Heriot-Watt University and De Montfort University. Earlier, Alistair has worked with Courtaulds Textiles in the areas of general management to IT development and implementation, which saw deployment of CAD-CAM systems as also installation of production planning and control networks for clothing manufacturing subsidiaries; set up advanced supply chain links including design and pattern data transfer, plus internet-enabled product data management systems.

David J. Tyler has a background in the physical sciences and his involvement with apparel industry began when he sought to analyse industrial problems from the physicist's perspective (1968-76, Hatra, Nottingham). After a 3-year stint with Courtaulds Ltd., he joined Department of Clothing Design and Technology at Manchester Metropolitan University. He has pursued a number of research interests related to responsive manufacturing and systems modelling. Earlier work was concerned with line systems and management strategies to optimise performance. Research interests over the past decade relate to team working in product development and its relation to operational practices and the optimisation of performance of textile/apparel supply chains. Since March 2000, he has managed the North West Advanced Apparel Systems Centre, a European-funded initiative to support clothing and textile companies in NW England.

Dr. Rajesh Bheda is a professor in Garment Manufacturing Technology Department, National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi, one of the world's leading fashion technology institutes. His teaching, consultancy and research interests are more focused on productivity improvement, quality management, technology upgradation and the social issues relating to apparel manufacturing. Prof. Bheda has extensively researched productivity in apparel manufacturing and has visited several plants across the globe. His research findings have widely been published in international journals.
He holds a Doctorate in Management from Delhi University and underwent a fellowship at the Manchester Metropolitan University. He is an also a member of Training Committee of the International Apparel Federation.

Ram K. Sareen is currently Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Tukatech Inc., a CAD-CAM and Unit productions systems company with world headquarters in Los Angeles and offices in New York, Vancouver, Toronto, Seoul, London, New Delhi, Bangalore and Milano. Earlier, he was Consultant and Regional Manager for Canada, Mexico and Western US for Gerber Technology (formerly known as GGT). He also held several manufacturing and consulting positions including President, R. Sareen & Associate, Executive Vice President, London Fog, Vice President, Torfeaco Industries, Vice President/General Manager, Work Wear Corporation.

Ram is a Board Member and Advisor with Los Angeles Trade Technical College, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Cal Poly Pamona, Santa Monica Fashion Institute, American Production and Inventory Control Society, and Coalition of Apparel Industries in California.

Pradip V. Mehta, a Fellow of the American Society for Quality, is currently the Chief of Quality Assurance for a multi-billion dollar, multinational retail and service organisation. He manages product quality and safety of consumer goods bought and sold by his organisation as well as oversees private label suppliers' compliance to its code of conduct regarding child labour, minimum wage, work hours. Mehta has 30 years of experience in quality assurance of consumer goods. He authored a book "An Introduction to Quality Control for the Apparel Industry", published in 1985 and has co-authored another book "Managing Quality in the Apparel Industry". Currently, he is writing a book on quality management in the retail industry. He has a Masters degree in Textile Engineering, and is an MBA, and a professional engineer. He is also an ISO 9000 Lead Auditor certified by RAB (U.S.A.) and IRCA (England).

Babar Iqbal Yar Khan, an Economics graduate from St. Stephen’s College, is a man of various interests including mountaineering. In true sense, he is a ‘garment man’ for almost two decades. He is fully conscious of the need for effectively meeting the challenges of competition. He firmly believes that India cannot be next to any country if it enhances productivity, reduces costs, improves quality and, above all, understands the ‘customer’. There is no other short-cut solution to survival in the trade of garment the world over. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Shivam, a government approved garment export house, which has been producing high quality, high fashion garments. The company he leads is known for its technical innovations.

Gordon Lazenby is a veteran practising clothing consultant for well over a decade, which includes many international assignments including training in work study, general sewing data, management skills and presentation techniques, covering all sectors of sewn products industries including textiles, footwear, knitwear and many others. He also handled various project management assignments in 40 countries, especially in the Asian sub-continent and the Indian ocean. He has also worked as Senior Consultant with BC Tek Ltd., Senior Consultant, British Clothing Centre, Group Work Study Manager, Burton Group Plc., and Production Controller, Reliance Group Knitwear, among others. He acquired professional qualifications from several reputed institutions like British Institute of Management, Institute of Management Consultants, besides undertaking professional training from Leeds College of Technology, London School of Work Study and GAD Institute, among others.

Peter J Tredwin served Gerber Technology Inc. from 1979-2001 and retired from the company as Vice President, Sales and World Marketing. Prior to Gerber, he served in senior sales and marketing positions with Pfaff, Durkopp and Rimoldi, all major suppliers of sewing technology to the apparel and allied industries. Now he serves the industry as a lecturer, trainer and pre-production technology consultant. His particular emphasis is on "mega trends" and mass customisation. In 1990, Peter Tredwin was the Founding President of the Sewn Products Equipment Suppliers Association (SPESA). Since then he has been an active member of its Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Masschusetts' Department of Consumer Studies and an advisor to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM).

U. Suresh Kamath, a Science graduate, has been associated with Coats India (a division of Madura Coats Ltd.) since 1981. Over a period of 22 years that he has been with Coats, he was in the frontline Sales & Marketing functions for 15 years before moving over to Technical Services since the past 7 years.

He is presently working as Technical Services Manager of Coats India and is responsible for all technical matters involving Coats threads products and their usage, technical presentations and training all over India. His job has taken him to neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Resham Sen, a graduate in Commerce and Law, has core competence in quality assurance, industrial engineering, patterns and garment construction; and has thorough knowledge of the world's most modern sewing machines and use of folders and attachment. He also has extensive exposure to the best of international production systems.

His core competence stems from 12 years of professional experience in production, quality control and project management in garment factories in India and Nepal and Juki Singapore Pte. Ltd.

Rajkumar Rai a Textile Technology graduate from Calcutta. Worked with mills in Calcutta, Mumbai and Ahmedabad for seven years to gain expertise in processing of all types of fabrics and dyes on the latest machines.
Completed PG Diploma in international trade and joined Inter Conti Projects Ltd., Delhi for marketing non-woven interlinings. Had undergone extensive training in application of interlining at Freudenberg Nonwovens, Germany. Associated with NIFT Delhi as a guest lecturer and industrial expert.

Mr. Y.P. Garg started his career in garment industry with “York” shirts way back in 1966. Since 1985 he working as consultant and successfully re-engineered many factories in India. Widely travelled across India and Far East Mr. Garg specializes in manufacturing technology with special emphasis in sewing. He is currently involved in operator training and research in use of lightweight fabrics.

Bodo Friederich & His Team at Groz-Beckert Lab

Bodo Friederich is the Vice President, Sales with Groz-Beckert and has nominated the company's well equipped sewing lab., which is manned by several experts, who carry out all technical investigations and make suitable recommendations to customers in trouble shooting. These recommendations are often result of teamwork. It is this Groz-Beckert lab team, which will handle all technical questions.
